As an essential part of our water system’s maintenance program, the Blair Township Water and Sewer Authority opens hydrants in the spring and fall to “flush” minerals and deposits from our water mains. Water main flushing is necessary to preserve water quality in our water distribution system.
When crews are working in your area, you may notice a temporary drop in water pressure or discolored water. This is normal and should subside after our maintenance technicians have moved out of your area.
Try to limit your water usage during flushing hours to avoid drawing sediment into your own system. We apologize for the inconvenience that flushing our water system causes, but we strive to provide you with the highest quality water at the tap, and flushing is needed to meet that goal.
